About

On the heights of Saint-Martin-du-Tertre, above the impressive chalk cliffs, is a protected natural area, classified "Natura 2000". It is home to plants that are very rare in Burgundy, as well as protected animals and birds
This Natura 2000 area can be discovered thanks to a discovery trail, "la boucle des Carrelottes". This 1.5 km itinerary is marked out with explanatory desks. You can discover the exceptional natural heritage of dry grasslands on chalk, unique in Burgundy, and the history of this hill marked by human occupation for several millennia. During the grazing periods, it will also be possible to meet the Highland Cattle in charge of the maintenance of the lawns. All this while enjoying a breathtaking view of Sens, its cathedral and the Yonne valley.
We advise you to be well-shod because the path is very steep in places!
